Mounting 2 Kayaks on a 2006 Honda CRV Factory Roof Rack Using Yakima J Hooks

Question:

I have a Honda CRV with a factory roof rack. I also have 2 pairs of Yakima J hooks with straps for my 2 kayaks. What additional apparatus do I need in order to put my kayaks on top of my car? I have been going through the maze of options online, and I just want a simple answer.

The problem you are going to face is the fact that the factory rack has a 75 pound weight limit, which would surely be exceeded by mounting two kayaks on it. I have spoken with one of our contacts at Yakima, who recommend using the LandingPad 8, part # Y00228 (you will need two of these), along with the Yakima Control Towers Roof Rack Feet, part # Y00214. You will also need the Load Bars, which are offered in 58 inch lengths, part # Y00409. The J hooks you already have would mount easily to the load bars.
