Expert Reply:

The main difference between the Surco Cargo Carrier, part # 52018 and the Tow Ready Cargo Carrier, part # 63153 is the shank that slides into the hitch receiver. The Surco carrier has a straight shank, and provides 5-1/2 inches of clearance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier. The Tow Ready Carrier offers an angled shank that raises ground clearance by 2-1/2 inches above the top of the receiver. The shank is also longer, allowing 12-3/4 inches of clearance between the hitch pin hole and the carrier. The Surco Carrier offers an optional folding adapter, part # 52015 which would allow the carrier to fold up against the rear of the vehicle.
