Brown Wire on OEM Brake Controller Wiring Adapter on 2007 Ford F-150

Question:

i got a 2001 ford F-150 and the factory wip that connects to the brake control has 5 wires. the brown wire im not sure of it says illumination do i have to hook it up or leave it alone. the brake control only has 4 wires.

The brown wire for the illumination circuit is not needed. Use electrical tape to cover the bare wire on the end, and tuck it up out of the way.
