Question:
Trl has 5 wires going into a 4 way plug. Needs replacing but cant find the same part. Can 5 wires be tied into the 4 wires on a new male connector. Cant figure out where extra wire goes.

Expert Reply:
Typically, a 4-way trailer connector is wired as follows: Green wire for right side directional signal and brake light, yellow wire for left directional and brake, brown for running/marker light, and white for ground. Your trailer has two wires for the marker lights, one to run down the drivers side, one for the passenger. You can use a regular 4-way connector such as our part # 18004, and connect the two wires you have for the running light circuit to the brown wire on the connector.
