Question:
I recently installed lights onto my PVC guide poles on the boat trailer. After connecting all wires and testing the lights, I have the stop and turn functions working, but the running lights will not come on. I have a basic light with two mounting studs mounted to a metal plate and grounded through one stud. Do I need to have a ground wire connected to both studs for the running light function to work? Or is it something else possibly?

In order to work correctly, the fixture needs to be grounded to the trailer frame to pick up the ground connection from the trailer connector that is usually mounted somewhere on the trailer tongue. Run a wire attached to both studs, and ground to the trailer frame. This should fix your problem.
