Question:
Trailer has Red STOP lights and AMBER turn signals. I have a HOPPY isolating converter with only a 4 way flat out. How should I wire the trailer end? left yellow/right yellow/stop both reds and License/running. That is 5 wires on the trailer end including ground.

Expert Reply:
This is an unusual situation. Typically, trailers carry the brake and turn indicators on the same circuit, one for the passenger side, and one for the drivers side. The easiest way to wire this would be to cut off your existing 4- way connector and use a 5-way connector. Then wire the fifth lead on the vehicle side into the brake light circuit. You would need the 5-Flat Vehicle End, part # 20016, and the 5-Flat Trailer End, part # 20017. This would be the simplest way to wire your trailer.
