Is the Led Light on at All Times on a Valley Journey HD Brake Controller on my 1996 Chevrolet Pickup

does the trailer need to be hookup before the ligt comes on

When the Valley Journey HD 2-8 Electric Brake Controller, item # V52740, is wired properly there will be one led light, a small dot, lit on the led display when there is no trailer connected. This unit will power completely down after 3-1/2 hours of no activity. With a trailer connected the Journey HD will show two led lights, small dots, on the display to show it is receiving power and active.
