Expert Reply:
When this brake controller shows an output when there is no trailer attached it usually means there is a wiring problem that needs to be addressed. If the output code is not showing without the trailer hooked up and then appears when the trailer is hooked up, the trailer is mis-wired and you will need to make sure the trailer brake wiring is connected to the proper terminal and that there are no problems with the wiring or magnets in the trailer brakes. The terminal inside your 7-way trailer connector that the trailer brake wiring should be attached to is the number two, blue, terminal if your 7- way on your vehicle is wired properly.
