Question:
I have seen recomendations for as little as 160 lbs torque to 300lbs torque for balls to ball mounts. I have a 1 7/8 ball with a 3/4in shank to attach to a receiver ball mount 1 1/4. What is the proper torque for the ball to the ball mount? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
A 1-7/8 trailer ball with a 3/4 inch shank would typically be torqued to 160 foot pounds. This can vary however, if you can let me know the part number stamped on the hitch ball and the manufacturer I will confirm the torque.
