SH and NC Error Codes on a Tekonsha Prodigy

Question:

When connected and towing the prodigy flashes from C to NC to SH. Where do I begin to determine the problem?

There are two possible causes for the error codes you are getting. The NC is telling you that the trailer is not connected. If you are getting this code with the trailer connected, the trailer connector might be damaged or corroded, preventing a good connection. Closely examine the pins and sockets on the vehicle and trailer side of the connection. If you notice any green corrosion on the pins and sockets, the corrosion might have spread to the interior of the connector, causing a faulty connection. The other possible problem is a short in the brake output circuit, which is what the SH code is telling you. Carefully check this wire from the trailer connector back to the brake magnets. Look for a pinched wire, or a wire with cracked or worn insulation that would allow the copper wire conductor to short out on the trailer frame or some other metal part. For future reference, I will include a link to the Prodigy operating instructions. You can find this link below.
