Determining If My 2003 Ford F150 Is Already Wired for A Brake Controller

Question:

I have a 2003 Ford F 250 pickup-I think the previous owner pulled a trailer and the truck has a connector mounted in the spot with an OEM trailer brake controller would have been mounted. I looked at the wiring in the rear of the truck and it has both the 7 plug setup and the flat 4-wire plug. The literature all states the the 4-wire plug is used for the trailer brake system. If that is the case how do I know if the wiring is already set and where can I get a controller. Thanks

The connector behind the tray in the dash is for connecting the afermarket brake controller. All you should need to do is obtain the Wiring Adapter, part number 20260, and a brake controller. One end of the adapter would wire to the brake controller, the other end would plug into the connector that you have already located. We offer a large selection of brake controllers. I would recommend a proportional controller, such as the Tekonsha Prodigy, part number 90185. The Prodigy is very easy to use and set up, which helps make it our best selling brake controller.
