Under Hood Wiring for a Brake Controller on a 2001 GMC Sierra with no Tow Package
Question:
2001 GMC Sierra, hooking up a brake controller without tow package. Have harness and red wire hooked up, the blue wire that was with the red wire under the fuse panel, do I hook it up to a wire I run back to the plug for the trailer brakes?

You are correct. The blue wire that you have located near the power distribution box under the hood would need to be extended to the rear of the vehicle to connect to the trailer connector. I would recommend using 12 gauge wire.
