Choosing a Brake Controller for a Motorhome

Question:

I need to install a brake module on my 29 class C motorhome and was hoping you could recommend a good quality unit for me. There appears to be many brands and I hope to get the right one first and do any experimenting. Thanks Ron

If you are looking for a quality controller that is easy to use and set up, you cannot go wrong with either the Tekonsha Prodigy, part number 90185 or the Valley Odyssey, part number 52810. These are proportional controllers that apply braking force to the trailer to match the rate at which the vehicle is stopping. Both controllers offer adjustable boost settings, which allow you to match braking performance to several different trailers, and both offer an integrated diagnostic system that continually checks for shorts and trailer connection problems. The Prodigy is a bit less expensive, but is a bit more particular about the orientation in which it is oriented. Either controller would be a great choice, and would work well for you. Links to these products are included below, and I will also include a link to our Brake Controller Installation Guide.
