4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole Wiring Adapter Connections

Question:

Hi I just recieved part #37185 Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole & 4 Pole. There are a few wires that I am not sure where to connect. The white I know is the ground, and the blue is for the brake controller. I ran a wire directly from my battery to the rear of the vehicle. Do I connect it to the black lead on the adapterI noticed there is one less wire on the 4 pin connectoror to the purple lead. If I connect it to the black will my van also charge the battery on my tent trailer or do I have run another wire from the battery to the purpleAuxas well.

The extra wires on your adapter perform the following functions; White is ground, blue is for the trailer brakes, and the black would go to a 12v power source (the wire that you ran to the battery). The black lead could also be used to charge one battery on your trailer.
