Question:

I have 3 vehicles that I want to equip with for use with a single P-3 controller and a 6x12 Haulmark cargo trailer 7pin, dual axle w/electric brakes and rechargable trailer emergency brake battery. The vehicles are: * 2005 F-150 FX4: already has factory tow package & 7pin. wiring. * 2000 Dodge Durago R/T 5.9L - has aftermarket hitch and 4 blade connector. * 2006 Nissan Xterra 4wd SE 6cyl - has installed hitch and 4 blade connector. Id like all 3 vehicles to be compatible with the 7 pin trailer setup and the P-3 which Ill also be purchasing. Please advise on what wiring adapters Ill need to upgrade each vehicle and interface to the P-3. Please also let me know if I can purchase extra mounts for the P-3 so I can easily switch between vehicles. Thanks,

For the 2005 Ford F-150, you will need the Tekonsha Wire Replacement, # 3035-P. And of course, you will need the Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller - Proportional, # 90195. This should be all you need if the vehicle comes with a factory tow package and 7-Way wiring.

For the 2000 Dodge Durango, you will need the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. You will also need a Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness, # 20127 that plugs into the P3. The wires from it then connect to the hardwired wires you installed with the ETBC7 kit. I have included a video showing Brake Controller installation on a similar vehicle.

For the 2006 Nisan Xterra, you will need another Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, # ETBC7. You will also need another Replacement Brake Control Plug-In Harness, # 20127 that plugs into the P3. The wires from it then connect to the hardwired wires you installed with the ETBC7 kit.

We do have extra mounts for the P3. Use Tekonsha Replacement Cradle and Mount Bracket for P3 Brake Controller, # 59045901.

To install the brake controller on the Dodge and Nissan, you will need to hardwire some of the wiring. I will include more detailed instructions below. I have also included videos showing installation of an ETBC7 harness.
