Using the Swagman Towing 3 Bike Rack, Part # S64004 on Bike with Dual Crossbars

Question:

I have a male bicycle that has a double cross bar and my wifes bike is a female style. How do you hang them on this carrier? is there an adapter needed?

If the double cross bar is side by side, the bike will not work in the 3 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Towing Bike Rack without using an adapter, assuming that the gooseneck on your your bike will offer the 3 inches of clearance needed above the top of the cross bar.

If the double crossbars consist of one bar over the other, and if there is 3 inches of clearance between them the bike rack can be used without an adapter. The bike with the double crossbars would need to be mounted furthest to the rear.

I would recommend using the frame adapter, part # S64004 for the female type bike. One end of the adapter would connect to the seat post, the other end to the handlebar gooseneck. The adapter provides a mounting point for the rack to attach to.
