Gooseneck Hitch Installation Location on a 2003 Chevrolet 2500 HD 2WD 6 Foot Bed

Question:

Im wondering where the 2 5/16 ball is located after the install. Is it centered over the axle or forward of the axle, or can it be adjusted. I have a 2003 chevy 2500HD 2wd extended cab short bed 6 foot.

Expert Reply:

When installing the CURT Double Lock, Flip and Store Gooseneck Hitch, item # C600-652, the center of the ball will be installed at 44-1/4 inches from the rear or the bed and centered between the wheel wells. The center of the ball should end up around 1-1/2 inches forward of the center of the rear axle.

The ball position can be slightly adjusted by loosening the mounting hardware but the size of the hole cut in the bed for the hitch ball would need to be enlarged to do this.

I have posted instructions below for you to review.
