Trunk Mount Bike Carrier Recommendation for a 2014 Dodge Journey
Question:
Hello, I saw on a previous answer TH910XT being recommended for a 2014 Dodge Journey. Would Thule 56BV also fit the same car? My worries are the same, Journey uses a plastic composite on the rear panel. Thanks in advance.

Thule does list the OutWay # TH56BV as a fit for your 2014 Dodge Journey. However, I recommend going with a different rack because of the exact issue you are describing; that upper plastic part at the top of the rear hatch. You don't want to much stress on it.
So I recommend the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack # HRF2-3. This rack has an additional upper arm piece that moves the top straps up and over that spoiler so no weight is put on it (since the spoiler is not meant to support weight). I have included a link to a video that shows how it works. I have included a link to the right to a video showing how it works.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
