Tire Chain Recommendations for 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with 255/70-18 Tires
Question:
I need assistance finding snow chains or cables to fit 255/70-18 tires on my Jeep. Do you recommend cables over chains?

The tire chain type that would work best for your will depend on how you'll use them.
Will you consistently be in places where you'll need the chains, or will they stay in the back of the Jeep, for very occasional or emergency use only, kind of like a heavy security blanket? Will you use them off road?
Cables like # PW2028C or # TC2028 would be an okay choice for emergency use. They're light and pretty easy to install, but they're not going to stand up well to heavy use and would not be a good choice to use off-road. The Glacier Chain V-Bar Chains, part # PWH2828SC features studs that would bite into the ice and snow for excellent traction both on the road and off. Rubber adjusters, part # PW99 are recommended, they're sold in pairs.
Before purchasing or using tire chains, be sure to check with your owner's manual or with Jeep to see if they have any advice or prohibitions regarding the use of tire chains. Once you get your chains, be sure to get some practice installing them. This way, when your kneeling in the snow on the side of the road, you'll be familiar with the process.
