The Universal Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, part # RP30035 would be used to install the Reese 16K Fifth Wheel Hitch on your 1998 Dodge Ram.

With a long bed truck, a sliding hitch is really not necessary as you should have no clearance problems. If you already have the hitch and are moving it from a different vehicle, make sure that the hitch is moved fully forward while towing. Having the hitch slid to the rear while towing could significantly lighten the weight applied to the front truck axle, causing a decrease in steering response that could be dangerous.
