Question:

I have a 2004 1/2 ton 4x4 Suburban. I am purchasing a larger camper - Tongue weight is 712 lbs, dry trailer weight is 5,379 lbs. I expect that with a battery on the toungue and 2 20 pound LP tanks, the tongue weight will increase some. What is the proper system I should get,and will dual cam sway help I currently have a friction sway Thanks

The Strait-Line Weight Distribution Hitch System, # 66074, will work for your application. You could also get the Reese Round Bar Strait-Line Hitch with Shank, # 66088, which comes with the shank. Even after adding a battery and the tanks, you will still be under the maximum tongue weight capacity with either of these WD systems.

I usually recommend the straight-line, dual cam sway control WD systems because they are automatic and self-centering. These systems use pro-active sway control that stops trailer sway before it even starts.

If you need a trailer ball, I recommend Hitch Ball # 19286. It has the proper shank diameter for the WD systems above.

I have included two videos that show installation of a similar WD system to give you a better idea of how the dual cam system is installed.
