Question:

Towing 19 foot airstream approx tongue wt 400 and gvwt approx 4000. Looking at #RP66086 and #RP66087 Reese strait line. the RP66087 is rated for tongue wt 800 and is cheaper than RP66086 rated at 600. Any problem or draw back to the heavier tongue rate?

Keep in mind that when determining tongue weight you will also have to include the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle, as well as any gear stowed in the Airstream. We refer to this as the as-towed tongue weight of the trailer.

Ideally, you want the as-towed tongue weight of the trailer to fall right in the middle of the effective range of the weight distribution system you choose. The RP66086 has a effective range of 200-600 lbs, while the range of the RP66087 is 400-800 lbs. Either system you mention can handle the trailer, but one of them will provide better performance.
