Brake Controller Installation: Starting from Scratch

Question:

Will this brake controller work on my 2010 Toyota Tundra? The truck is already pre-wired for a brake controller. Can I wire this controller into my current brake harness? Thanks for the help!

Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, they can be used on virtually any vehicle. The Activator II Electronic Brake Controller, part # 5500 would work just fine on your Tundra.

If your factory installed tow package includes the 7-way trailer connector on the rear bumper, the controller can be plugged into the connector under the dash using a Brake Controller Wiring Adapter, part # 3040-P.

If the factory tow package consists of the 4-pole connector that supports the lighting functions only, the controller will have to be hardwired into the vehicle using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7 (for a 7-way connector) or part # ETBC6 (for a 6-way connector). The Install Kit includes everything needed for installing the controller, including the trailer connector, wire, hardware and circuit breakers.
