Capacity and Rating Definitions for Gooseneck 9460-48 on a 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Question:

When you talk about capacity of the hitch - what is the maximum trailer weight this hitch can tow. I have a 1999 F250 Super Duty 6 1/2 foot bed truck.

The hitch can handle 30,000 pounds of trailer weight. If you were to pull something that weighed 30,000 pounds or less, this hitch can physically handle it. Your vehicle on the other hand has its own capacity which should not be exceeded. Check your owners manual for the amount your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty can tow.

To pull 30,000 pounds you would need rails that can also withstand the strain of that much weight. These have to be custom fitted by a qualified professional.

The vertical load limit is how much weight is pushing down on the hitch, kind of like the tongue weight capacity on a standard hitch. In this case it can handle no more than 7,500 pounds pushing down on it. Again your vehicle has its own limits that should not be exceeded. Check your owners manual for the amount your 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty can tow.

I have included a link to a video of a Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation that should be helpful also.
