Replacing Taillights on a 1986 Bayliner 1650 Using Trailer Light Kit TLK01

Question:

We purchased an old old 1986 Bayliner 1650 at a charity auction. It came on a trailer that no longer has a brand name showing. It needs new lights. Is your lighting kit fairly universal in terms of fit?

Expert Reply:

Our lighting kits are not necessarily trailer specific. If the Submersible Trailer Tail Light Kit # TLK01 fits the electrical connection on your tow vehicle (in this case the light kit has 4 flat wiring) then the lights can be mounted in the existing trailer mounts if they are the correct size.

The light kit has mounting studs, nuts included, that are 2 inches on center for mounting to a metal mounting bracket. The bracket must be attached securely to the trailer frame because the lights in this kit get their ground connection through the mounting studs.

It is also possible to remove the included connector and attach a different one for your specific wiring needs.
