Question:

Silent Hitch Pin with Clip for 2 Trailer Hitches Code: 63145-1 and optional lock I am looking for a silent hitch pin that locks to use with a folding Valley hitch mount cargo carrier, 2, 500# rating, 20x60. Will this hitch pin work? Is this the best locking silent hitch pin to buy for this use? Thanks. I am also wondering if I should get a poly Rola cargo carrier that weighs 35# to save weight but am concerned it may not be as stable or secure as the Valley. I like the Valleys higher sides and steel construction but a lighter, slightly smaller carrier would allow me to carry it easier and to actually put it in the back of the Expedition running along the length of the back seat rather than to fold it up. Any thoughts on that? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

The Silent Hitch Pin with Clip # 63145-1 would work with the Valley Cargo Carrier, # V90180, but there is not a lock available for this hitch pin.

I would recommend the Anti-Rattle Device and Lock # 63232 because it is both pin and lock in one unit.

The Rola Polypropylene Cargo Carrier # 59500 is a good carrier. It will not rust, it is light, and it can hold almost as much as a metal carrier. It does not come with a hitch pin nor does it fold up when not in use. If the exhaust from your vehicle empties too close to the carrier, the bottom could melt. I have included a video of this product below.

The Folding Cargo Carrier # V90180 is another good rack. This rack will fold up, it will not melt from exhaust fumes, but does not come with a hitch pin. It can hold about 45 more pounds than the Rola carrier. I have included a video of this product below.

I would recommend the Folding Cargo Carrier from Valley # V90180 because it can fold up when not in use and can hold more weight.
