Bike Rack for a 2007 Toyota RAV4

Question:

Hi looking for a platform-type 2-bike rack 2 hitch mount for my 2007 Toyota RAV4. Clearance of the rear mounted spare is the issue. Do you have fit info for my car and the hitch clearance measurement for this rack or the Swagman similar racks. Thanks

The biggest difference between the SportRack 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Rack with Wheel Mount Cradles # A30901 and the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest wheel mount.

The SportRack 2 measures 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel mount.

The Swagman XTC-2 measures 9 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest wheel mount.

In terms of clearance the SportRack 2 has more.

Bike racks are not vehicle specific but some will work better than others. If you measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the end of the spare tire and if it is less than 9 inches either rack will work. If it is between 9 and 12 inches then the SportRack 2 will work. Greater than 12 inches will require a hitch extender.

If you do have to use a hitch extender remember that the use of an extender will reduce tongue weight by 50 percent.

If you end up needing a hitch extender I recommend the Hitch Extender For 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver 7 inches, part # HE06.
