Question:

HI, I just bought the reese #66155 to use with my brand new 2010 forest river 3006 windjammer rv. Problem is the trailer has a 6 inch frame with the coupler mounted on the bottom of the frame. this is making it so that there is no way to get the bars up onto the friction pads. is there a fix for this? I have tried everything and have come to the conclusion that it cant be used with this camper unless there is some type of kit available for this application. please let me know asap...thanks

The Reese High Performance SC Weight distribution will not work with an under mount coupler, especially with a 6 inch tall frame. You need to use a chain style weight distribution system to compensate for the height. Chain style WD systems utilize Dual Cam sway control which is also a better system for controlling sway.

At the same weight range as the RP66155, you could use Reese Strait-Line Trunnion System, part # RP66074 or the Round Bar version, part # RP66088. We also have heavier duty and lighter duty systems. I have added a link to all our chain connected weight distribution systems with sway control included.

Thanks for the quick response and all the info...The problem with any of the chain systems for me is I have a v nose trailer, specially a 2010 3006w windjammer by forest river. according to forest river a chain system wont have the clearance....I think this leaves me with the equalizer. I know that they accommodate under mount couplers by reversing the bracket..That will work for me correct? and do you have those? thanks

Fortunately, Draw-Tite came up with a set up brackets, part # RP58305, for V Nose guys so that they can use chain systems. You will have to use the trailer jack to lift the vehicle and trailer to hook up the chains since there is no tip-up function on the bracket. I have added a link to the instructions for these brackets below.

I am not sure what you mean by an equalizer. I spoke with my contact at Reese last evening regarding your first question, and we could not think of any way or any part that would allow you to use the High Perf. SC WD system on a trailer with an under-mount coupler.
