Which Transission Cooler for My 2004 Chevy Express and Do You Have Transmission Temperature Gauges

Question:

How are these cut in to existing system? Do you sell a temp gauge that would go with this? Any reason to think this unit wont fit my van? Will be towing 7500-8000 trailer, is this the best cooling option? Thanks

The Derale 8000 Series cooler, part # D13504, would be a good cooler to use for that trailer weight range. I do not see any reason why it would not fit your full-size van. Just to be sure, measure the area where you would want to install it to make sure you have enough room. The cooler measures 11 inches wide, 12 inches tall and 7/8 inch thick.

The cooler attaches to your radiator and sits in front of it. There is a factory trans cooler, though very small, built into the radiator of most automatic transmission vehicles. It works fine for normal use, but for towing, larger coolers are needed, like in your case. There are lines run up to this cooler. You will simply disconnect them, attach one to the cooler and run the included hose from the cooler back to the return on the transmission.

I have included a link to a transmission cooler install video, 1 size smaller, on a 2006 Honda CR-V. It should give you a pretty clear idea of how the install procedure goes.

We do have an oil temp sensor and gauge that will work for both engine oil and transmission oil, part # D13009. You would install it into the drain plug hole on the transmission pan.
