Question:
I bought a 14 hitch extender for a toyota rav with 2 receiver. I plan to use a 40lb dirtbike hauler with a 330lb dirtbike. My tongue weight is 350lbs, but the hitch extender weight is 300lbs. Is there a safety margin? Think I should push the limit? I want to trailer the bike about 150 miles and back for the races.

We strongly recommend not hauling any more than the lowest rated component of your system. You must also keep in mind that using an extender decreases the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. This would mean your hitch tongue weight capacity would be only 175 lbs. It would not be safe to carry more than 175 lbs with your hitch and extender. This set up will not work to safely haul your dirt bike. Your best bet is to find a carrier with a longer shank so no extender is required or find another way to carry the spare tire (assuming this is why you needed the extender in the first place).

I have an addiction to Convert-a-Ball trailer balls because they are so versitle. My kids (grown) manage to loose the 2" balls and these fine people had replacements. I ordered them one day and they were shipped the next day. Great service.
