Do Trailer Hub Assemblies Come Assembled, Greased and Ready for Installation

Fit for calkins? 1 &1/16 HUB L44649 BEARINGS. Do ya just remove the old clean spindle and go?

The Trailer Hub Assembly - 2,000 lbs Axles - 4 on 4, item # 8-91-05UC1, does not come assembled. You will need to work grease into the bearings and hub and clean the spindle on your trailer before installation. You will also have to install the seal in the back side of the bearing. I like to use a small piece of 2X4 and lay the seal as straight as possible on the hub and tap the 2X4 with a hammer spinning it as I go around the seal, until it is flush with the rear of the hub.

It is also recommended that you replace the cotter pin, item # 165649, that holds the spindle nut in position on the spindle.

Grease for this project is also available and I would recommend LubriMatic Marine Trailer Wheel Bearing Grease, item # L11404, which is hydrophobic grease that will not absorb water if any happens to get past the grease seal.
