Size of Bracket Hangers Included with the Reese High Performance WD SC # 66151

Question:

You had previously recommeded the Reese High Performance WD SC 66151 for my Jeep Cherokee. My trailer has a total length of 20ft back to ball. It is a snowmobile trailer with a V-nose. Once I move the side mounted jack to an A-frame mount, i will have 3-4 inches of frame at 22 inches from the ball with which to mount the brackets. The 66154 bracket looks to be about 2 inches wide and would probably fit better than the bracket shown with the wide bottom on the 66151. Are the brackets inter-changeable and will the system crush or bend the aluminum rails they are mounted to?

The Reese High Performance WD SC, # RP66151, comes with the brackets you mentioned. The pictures on that product page are of a system with 1200 pound spring bars. I am sorry for any confusion. The brackets can be mounted on your aluminum frame. The bracket does not need to be tightened excessively. Just follow the directions (see link) for the 600 and 800 pound spring bars and you will be fine. Most of the weight on the weight distribution system is downward force. The Reese SC Replacement Frame Bracket Assembly - Clamp On - TW 600 - 800 lbs, item # 58353, is also available separately but would not be interchangeable with spring bars rated over 800 pounds. The brackets are 8-1/4 inches by 2 inches and 1/2 inch thick.
