Correct Installation of a Brake Controller On a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

Im in the process of installing the 90185 Prodigy brake controller in my 2007 FJ Cuiser. Ive read the instuctions with the controller and also have looked on your web site and looked at the video for installation in a 2008 FJ Cruiser. There seems to be some steps missing with the instructions that come with box that you show on your video. With your video you connect the black wires together and the white wire to the white wire as you have no bluebrake wire. While my 7way plug has a blue wire along with a black and white wire.So if I go by the instructions with the box which I started out to will that be ok. Ive hooked up the blue wire from the controller to the blue wire to the 7way plug. The black will go to the positive side of the battery through a 20 amp breaker, the white will go to the ground side or negative of the battery and the red will go to the green/white of the brake stop switch. This means I will not need a black wire coming from my 7way as power is flowing through my 4way connector already? I just want to be sure of the correct way to connect it up as not to damage the controller. Would either way of connecting it be ok or is one better than the other.

You are on the right track. The only place I see that you are getting off track is with the power wire. I will go through all of the connections for you.

From the Brake controller here are your connections.

White wire to negative battery post.
Black wire through a 20 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54520, to the positive battery post.
Red wire to the stop light switch wire behind the brake pedal.
Blue wire runs back to the blue wire on the 7-Way adapter.

You will then need to run another wire from the black wire on the 7-Way Adapter to the positive post on the vehicle battery through a 40 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54540, and a wire to the reverse light circuit, behind one of the taillights, from the yellow (center pole, sometimes purple) wire on the connector if needed. If you do not need the center pole circuit you can just tie it up out of the way with a wire tie. There is not constant 12 volt power running through the 4-Way connector, so the power connection does need to be made.
