What 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Rack will Fit a Class I Trailer Hitch Receiver

Question:

Hello, I am interested in this sport rack due to its features and price. However, it indicates that it is only for a class II 1.25 inch receiver. I am wanting to know why it cannot be used with a class I? Is it due to the weight of the rack + 3 bikes exceeding tongue weight on a class I? I am only looking to carry 2 bikes and I cannot find any on your site with a price like this and the features. Would I be able to use this on a class I only transporting 2 bikes? Thanks in advance for your help!

The SportRack bike rack you are interested in cannot be used in a Class I receiver. Class I and II receivers both are 1-1/4 inch by 1-1/4 inch in size but Class II shanks are longer and will not slide all the way into a Class I hitch. If you tried to slide this bike rack into your Class I receiver it would not go in far enough for the hitch pin holes to line up and you would not be able to insert your pin or lock.

The closest rack we offer regarding features is the Thule Roadway, part # TH912XT. It now includes anti-sway cradles to keep the bikes from hitting each other. Swagman also offers another rack that will fit your Class I receiver hitch. It is the Swagman Trailhead, part # S63360. But it does not include anti-sway cradles.
