I wanted to know whther part#1467DAT can be ed into the receiver hitch when not in use and be used internal rather than connected eternally when the reciver is being used for towing?

The Master Lock Key Safe Trailer Hitch Lock, item # 1467DAT, can be used when the ball mount is not in use. The Key safe will not fit into the receiver though so the key safe would have to remain on one side or the other of the hitch receiver.
