How Can I Install Master Lock Wireless Back Up Camera At the Rear of My Trailer Instead of Vehicle

Question:

I need this for the back of a 18 travel trailer, the trailer uses a 7 way plug and I have a working 4 way on the truck will that work? Is this a complete kit the wires on the camera looks short and I cant install on trailer lic. plate a ladder is in the way. What else would I need? How would the camera mount on the trailer looks like a hitch camera?

The Masterlock Wireless Backup Camera is designed to be used on the back of a vehicle but can be put on the back of your trailer. You can do this a number of ways.

First of all, you can splice in wire to extend the connector for the camera and connect it at 4-Way of the vehicle as intended.

Second, you could run a hard line connection from the 4-Pole back to the camera. You would cut the connector off the camera, ground the white wire to the trailer and run the brown wire back to the vehicle and tap into the vehicle tail light circuit.

Third, you can skip running the wire all the back to the vehicle and just connect the brown wire from the camera to the wires on the trailer that power your side markers and tail lights.

Remember the camera transmits about 125 feet with no obstructions. Since you are mounting on the back of a trailer, I would mount it towards the top of the trailer so that there is not as much trailer material blocking the signal.

If you choose to extend the wire, we carry a couple different wires that may be useful to you like part # 10-2-1 and part # 12-1-1. They are sold by the foot.
