Wiring the Master Lock Wireless Backup Camera To the Reverse Circuit

Question:

When connected using the included 4-way wiring harness, are the camera and monitor on all the time? If I only wanted the camera to come on when in reverse, how should I wire it?

If you wanted to power the Masterlock Wireless Backup Camera, item # 4843DAT, only when in reverse you would need to wire the camera to the backup switch directly with a 4 Wire Loop like, item # 9653P. You would cut the 4-way connector off of the cameras power wires and splice one end of the two wire loop to the cameras wires. Next you would find the reverse light circuit behind one of the vehicle taillights and splice the power wire to it and the ground wire to a suitable vehicle ground.

Altering the wiring on the camera will void the warranty on the camera.
