Question:

confused as to what would be the best type and model for a 2006 mini convertible with a class 1 hitch. confused as to which is better 1 arm, 2 arms and are the platforms worth the money and if so which one? clearance and stability are major concerns. thanks.

I have 3 recommendations for you. The first and least expensive, is the Swagman Trailhead, item # S63360, 2-bike rack. This rack has a shank that rises up from the hitch to help provide clearance for the bikes when entering driveways with a steep angle or negotiating rough roads. This bike rack has a dual-arm style that the bike frame would sit on. Because of this, you may need an adapter like part # 64005 to carry womens bikes or bikes with alternative frames.

The second which offers a bit more security for the bikes, is the Swagman XTC 2-Bike Rack, item # S64670. This rack secures the bikes so they cannot sway or contact each other or the rear of the vehicle. This rack also provides clearance at the rear of the vehicle. Finally, the Kuat NV Hitch Mounted Bike Rack, item # N102, has all of the bells and whistles while providing the rise needed for clearance and a stable platform for the bikes being carried.
