Installation Of Brake controller On 2007 Mazda CX-9

Question:

I am installing a brake controller in a Mazda CX-9. I am having trouble with two things. First, do you know the best place to find the firewall hole for this vehicle? If not, where is the best place to drill a hole to pass the wires from the brake controller to the battery and trailer connector? Second, do you happen to know the best path to place the wire under the vehicle from the rear to the front battery? Do you have a diagram that could help? Thank you!

There is no standard place for installation of the wire harness going from the connector to the battery compartment on your 2007 Mazda CX-9. When talking with our installer they say they stay away from moving parts and also the exhaust to prevent damage to any of the wires. When drilling holes through the firewall you want to make sure you check the engine compartment to make certain you do not damage anything when drilling. On many of the installations they are drilling through the firewall a few inches above the place the steering column goes through the firewall.

We do not keep wiring diagrams for our installations, and have not had the opportunity to film a brake controller installation on a CX-9 like yours.

If you do not feel safe installing the wiring, you may want to check with a local mechanic to see if they would install it for you.
