What are Transmission Coolers Made Out Of

Question:

do you make any coolers out of stainless steel?

asked by: Mark P

Expert Reply:

Transmission coolers are not made out of stainless steel, they are made out of aluminum and copper because the cooler needs to transfer heat away from the transmission fluid and metal as quickly as possible and aluminum and copper are the most efficient metals for this process.

Stainless steel tends to hold heat rather than dissipate it quickly as aluminum does.

I have attached links to some information on transmission coolers that may be helpful also.
