Do any Trailer Hitches for 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Install with More than 5 Bolts

Question:

I am looking to instal a class 3 hitch on a 2014 grand caravan SXT with stow and go seating. I found that your explanation of Reese, Hidden Hitch, and Draw-Tite be be the same part very informative. It makes sense seeing that they are now all owned by the same company. This narrows my choices down to 2. Now this is where it gets confusing. You description of part# 13364 states it uses 6 attachment points instead of 5 as with the others. Hands down this is the hitch Im interested in. BUT, your link to the installation instructions show only 5 attachment points. Your videos show one hitch with 6 attachment points Curt, but has no explanations as to attachment points. Your video on Hidden Hitch clearly explains it only has 5 attachment points. Also, none of your videos show any mods done to the bumper cover as you described in some of the instructions. Can you please clarify this for me as I am interested in installing the 6 point hitch over the 5 point hitch. Thank you.

None of the trailer hitches for the current generation of Dodge Grand Caravans, including the 2014 models, install with more than 5 bolts. The fact is that 5 bolts are all that are needed to not only meet but exceed the capacities of the trailer hitches. I know the factory hitch installs with 6 bolts but a 6th bolt is not required to reach the capacities of these hitches.

The clamp force of just one bolt threaded all the way is over 1,000 pounds. And the sheer strength of all of the bolts combined is more than enough to handle the horizontal pull of towing a trailer.

The rear fascia does not have to be trimmed in all cases. It can be pushed up slightly instead of trimmed as shown in the video for Curt hitch # 13364 which I have linked for you.
