When the unit is tipped down, how much room is there for accessing the rear door?

Expert Reply:
I have spoken with our contacts at Thule. Without knowing the make and model of the vehicle, they could not provide anything specific. The carrier tilts down at an approximate 45 degree angle away from the vehicle. The folks at Thule tell me that the only vehicles that could present a clearance problem are those whose tailgates open to the side. If your vehicle has a liftgate that is hinged at the top, you should have no problems clearing the carrier when it is in its tilted position.
