What is the Difference Among the 3 Friction Sway Control Systems Part 3400, 83660, and 26660

Question:

what is recommended load rating for this anti sway device, and how does this one differ from the draw tite model? There are three, a $70 model, a $100 model, and a $140 model, but no criteria explaining the difference between the three. Use: 20-foot two stall horse trailer with tack room.

Expert Reply:

Since these parts do not carry any weight, there is not a load rating available. There are so many factors that determine whether or not a part like this would be able to control sway. You could have a properly loaded 7,000 pound trailer and this part would do fine, or you could have an improperly loaded 3,500 pound trailer and this part may not work at all. Load balance, trailer length, road conditions, driving style and other factors all play a part in sway.

Part # 3400 is made in the USA and has a rubber grip handle cover on it. Part # 83660 is made by Draw-Tite overseas. Part # 26660 is made by Reese overseas and has a rubber grip handle cover.
