Question:

I have purchased a used 2006 Jayco fifth wheel with a 5th airborne coupler. There is no information on tuning the hitch to my truck. Can u provide me with info on moving the air spring either forward or backward? The dry hitch weight of the trailer is 2055 lbs and is currently in the center position.

Expert Reply:

I would need the pin box part number off of your trailer to send you the correct instructions for your 5th Airborne coupler. I have sent instructions (see link)that apply to most 5th Airborne couplers for you.

A good starting point for pressure setting is 80-100 psi. (Do Not Exceed 120 psi). When setting air pressure you need to be on level ground and add air until the skid plate is level. If you cannot maintain a satisfactory ride, you need to reposition the the air spring or adjust the air pressure. If your pin weight is heavy you would reposition the air bag to the rear (back of trailer) and if your pin weight is light you would reposition forward (front of trailer).
