Question:

I have a question about installing a fifth wheel hitch on a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500. Are the holes in the hat rails the location for the fifth wheel hitch and is there any drilling involved with custom universal bracket mounts on a Reese 14K?

Expert Reply:

The only drilling involved when using the Custom Fifth Wheel Install Bracket Kit, part # RP50140-58 would be the holes drilled through the bed for attaching the bed rails to the bracket. The brackets that attach to the truck frame are fastened using U-bolts that wrap around the frame.

The front holes drilled for the rear rail will go through the center of the hat channel. When installing the rail system, make sure you use the rail location measurements that are listed in the online instructions, as they are the most recent version.
