Will the Rola Anti-Rattle Device # 63145-1 Work on a 2 inch Hitch Extension Tube

Question:

I have a hitch mount bike rack that has its own anitrattle. Unfortunately, I have to use an extension bar to clear my pickup camper, and it rattles. Will this device work on the extension to truck hitch interface? Seems like it, but it is extra stress, due to the 18 extension.

Expert Reply:

Yes, the Rola Silent Hitch Pin, # 63145-1, will prevent the extension from rattling inside the 2 inch hitch, as long as the extender you are using is hollow.

Please note, that when using an extension, the tongue weight capacity of the hitch is reduced by 50 percent so the total weight of the bike rack and the bikes on it must be less than 50 percent of the tongue weight capacity marked on the hitch.
