Question:
Thinking is buying a 2005 Ford 150 Lariat - has towing package and 4 pin trailer wiring. I will also be purchasing a horse trailer. If the horse trailer has brakes and 7 pin wiring, will I have to have the truck re-wired? Should I just look for a truck with 7 pin trailer wiring? Thanks!

If you really like this truck, adapting the 4-way to work with the connector on the horse trailer is pretty simple.Your truck already has the connection port under the dash for a brake controller, and the output wire for the brake voltage will be run to the rear of the truck along the drivers side frame rail. Its a blue wire, and usually terminates near the back wheel. Are you sure that the horse trailer has the 7-way blade connector? Horse trailers typically have the 6 pin. In any event, you will need either the 4 to 6-way adapter, part # 37175 or the 4 to 7-way adapter, part # 37185. Each of these adapters would plug into your existing 4 way connector, with the remaining wires connecting to the brake controller output, ground connection, 12 volt accessory power and the reverse light circuit (if needed).
