How to Measure a Trailer Slipper Spring

Question:

I have a small boat trailer that needs a new slipper spring. I have the weight off the spring and It measures 27in over all and about 24in from eye hole to the back mount of the slipper. I think its a single leaf maybe two but I can not find replacement parts anywhere

Make sure that when you measure the spring that you are measuring it with no weight on it. If it is still on the trailer then you would need to jack up one side and measure the spring on that side. Measure from the center of the eye to the tallest point of the slipper end.

The number of leaves is not all that relevant because you are supposed to replace both at the same time to avoid any differences and to ensure correct capacity. But the capacity of the springs and/or axle capacity is. If you know either of those that will help a lot.

I have included a link to our slipper spring main page. You can see the 4 measurements needed and then a chart below that the shows the springs we have and their measurements. You will also want to measure the width of the spring because slipper springs can have a few different widths.
