Brake Controller and Wiring for a 2007 GMC Sierra with New Body Style

Question:

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra New Body with a heavy duty tow package I need a brake controller that will work with my truck what models would work best. I have a 4500 lbs two axle trailer.

The New Body style does not have a port under the dash for a brake controller. You have a bundle of 5 loose wires under the steering wheel, just off to the left. You will need to splice your brake controller into these wires. I would recommend the Tekonsha P-3 brake controller, part # 90195, for your vehicle. It is a proportional controller that can be easily moved from one vehicle to the next. It is designed for use with electric and/or electric over hydraulic trailer braking systems. A simple switch on the unit allows you to toggle back and forth between the two systems.
