Tail Lights are Not Working on a 1990 Cadillac

Question:

My tail lights on my 1990 cadillac are not working,but turn signals & brakes do? What is going on?

If you are talking about the taillights at the trailer connector you will need to use a circuit tester, item # 3808 if needed, to check the brown wire to the connector and see if there is power on this wire when the taillights are on. If not then there is a problem on the vehicle. If the vehicle taillights are working and there is power to the trailer side of the brown taillight circuit then you need to check the ground connections on the trailer. The most common point that ground is lost is where the taillights connect to the trailer. The lights are usually grounded through the mounting bolts, if these bolts are not making contact or there is a plastic license plate frame behind the taillight that is where the ground may be lost.

If the problem is with the vehicle you could try to run down the problem with a circuit tester, and I would also check the fuse panels on the vehicle for a blown fuse that may be causing the problem. Other than that you would need to see a qualified mechanic.
